Canker sores are small, painful ulcers that nestle in the mouth. To get rid of them, there are natural remedies. We have selected five for you.

Canker sores are not a real health hazard. But some of them hurt a lot. To soothe this pain, you can use products from your daily life, 100% natural.

1. Baking soda

It seems that for each of our problems, baking soda has a solution. If it is useful to eliminate bacteria from your home, it can also cure mouth ulcers. To do this, mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of hot water, gargle with the solution and spit it out.

Repeat this every morning until your canker sore disappears. The baking soda will rebalance the PH of your mouth and limit bacterial proliferation. It will also allow a better healing. As a general rule, making mouthwash with baking soda improves oral hygiene.

2. Some plants

Certain plants are very effective against mouth ulcers. It is the case of basil for example. Its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic virtues will come to calm the pain and avoid any infection. Chewing basil leaves can be effective. You can also infuse basil leaves in boiling water and drink this drink 3 times a day.

Sage is also strongly recommended in case of mouth ulcers. Again, just let the leaves of this plant infuse in hot water and drink this solution as you would drink tea. You can also let this preparation cool down and use it to make mouthwashes. Known for its disinfectant properties, sage will work miracles.

3. Essential oils

Against mouth ulcers, essential oils are formidable. It will not be necessary to choose only one of them and especially to take care to respect the prescribed doses. We recommend that you dilute a drop of Noble Laurel essential oil in any vegetable oil and apply this solution to your mouth ulcer. You must wash your hands thoroughly before touching your canker sore or use a cotton swab.

You can also test this solution with clove essential oil which has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties but also with tea tree essential oil or aspic lavender essential oil which both have healing and antibacterial properties.

It is reminded that pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use essential oils. This remedy is also not recommended for children under the age of 7.

4. Myrrh

Myrrh has been used for thousands of years for its antiseptic, healing and anti-inflammatory properties. If you have a canker sore, it can be of great help. For maximum effectiveness, we advise you to apply a few drops of undiluted myrrh tincture directly to your canker sore. This operation may sting a little but it will be very effective.

You can also dilute about ten drops of myrrh tincture in a glass of water and use this solution as mouthwash. Here again, the use of myrrh is supervised: it is forbidden to pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you suffer from a particular pathology, ask your doctor for advice before using it as a remedy.

5. Homeopathy

Last effective solution against mouth ulcers: homeopathy. If your canker sore is painful, take 2 granules, three times a day, outside of meals, of Borax 5Ch or 9Ch. In case of burning sensation in the mouth, the Arsenicum album 9Ch will be adapted. You will then take 3 granules, three times a day, until the mouth ulcer disappears.

You can also rinse your mouth 2 to 3 times a day after a meal with Calendula which will have a calming, disinfecting and healing action or Hydrastis which will have a calming and healing effect.
